I Can!

Hi my name is Zion Knight Lee! 

I love music and all the world’s different sounds

From the boom boom, boom, of a drum that’s round.

To the clip, clop, clop of a horse on the ground!  

I listen and learn from what people say

But sometimes I find my fears creating anxious waves.

My fear says it’s better to stay close to the ground,

I can’t try to fly, I was meant to be earth bound. 

God tells me I can soar on wings like eagles, high in the sunset skies. 

He shows me he cares for even the sparrows and the butterflies. 

My fear says it’s better to stay quiet and unheard,

I can’t use my voice or try to sing with my words. 

 God tells me give him praise with every breath in my lung

I can create a song that’s never been sung!

My fear says it’s better to color in the lines,

I can’t think outside the box or try to change people’s minds. 

God tells me I am made in his image, it’s how he created me.

I can make beauty out of chaos, I have the gift of creativity.

My fear says it’s better to stick to what I know,

I can’t try something new and not feel in control.

God tells me He is in control, so why not learn all that I can?

I can always trust His heart, I can always trust His plans. 

My fear says it’s better to buy food from the store,

I can’t try to make it myself, I’d mess up I’m sure. 

God says He can teach me through all my mistakes

So, bring on all the spilled milk and all the burnt cakes!

My fear says it’s better to do things on my own

I can’t ask someone for help, or risk my weaknesses being shown.  

God says three who stay together are not easily broken in the end

So any struggle is worthwhile, if it means I’ve gained a friend.

My fear says it's better to keep my friends at a distance,

I can’t have deep conversations, I’d be met with so much resistance.

God says I can let people see how He is healing the broken heart in me

It’s then that love can transform every part of me.

My fear says it’s better to give up if things aren’t perfect,

I can’t keep going, how will I know if it’s worth it?

God says He is strong when I am weak,  

With Him, I can walk every valley, climb every mountain peak.

When my fears tell me I can’t, God tells me I can. 

I have a God that makes fear afraid.

I have a God that put death in the grave.

I have a God who is with me, always.
